Today's demographics confirm the need for additional
support services for women over the age of 55. Many of these women
live alone and, by age 65, almost 40% will live alone. Trust in
the Lives of Older Women is a unique program that focuses on enriching,
enhancing, and promoting wellbeing in the lives of older women.
"Participation in a Trust group has been quite literally
life changing and ultimately life reaffirming for many women,"
said a long-time group participant. "The group often becomes
a 'second family' as women share their intuitive wisdom in a safe
and supportive environment."
The Trust in the Lives of Older Women concept
was created by Dr. Ron Hofsess,
who has been organizing and facilitating trust communities for
nearly seven years. His work on aging has been recognized by business,
education and government leaders and he was a recently invited
to speak at a 2004 international forum sponsored by the United
Nations. Prior to his work with the Trust concept, Dr. Hofsess
was affiliated with Corning Community College for more than 30
years as a counselor, and has been an adjunct faculty member at
Elmira College for 32 years.
Human service providers, clergy, and the general public are encouraged
to attend.
